It is the policy of Deer Lakes Hockey to NOT charge admission to any of our home games. Instead, each month we select a charity that is meaningful to our families or the local hockey community.
100% of the proceeds are passed on to the charity. We feel that it is important to instill a philanthropic attitude with our players by setting this example.
Please stop by our admissions table and make a donation. Information about the benefactor for each game is available there and will be posted to social media accounts

Backpack Initiative
Inspired by a similar program in the North Hills School District, retired school teacher, Ms. Carol McCaskey launched the Backpack Initiative to Fight Hunger. Since January 2013, Ms. McCaskey has helped provide weekend food supplies to over 100 students annually.
There are only two stipulations for participating in the program and they are that any student can join the program and that participation remain confidential. Ms. McCaskey and other school staff members discretely deliver backpacks with food each Friday in the students’ lockers so that their classmates can’t see who is receiving supplies.
“A lot of people, it’s not their fault they don’t have food or whatever, especially the kids,” Ms. McCaskey said, “so I don’t want them hurting because of other things in society.”
Ms. McCaskey has been recognized on two occasions for her work with the Backpack Initiative to Fight Hunger . In 2015 she was one of seven finalists for Most Outstanding Volunteer of the Year Award for the 2014 Jefferson Awards for Public Service program and one of five finalists in 2016 as Larry Richert’s Hometown Heroes
